It is one of the oldest temples in the Bogotá savannah and since the 18th century it has had its current form. In the main nave there is a unique collection of the purest colonial art of the 17th century, ''the 12 archangels of sopó''.

In 1912 Marco Fidel Suárez (president of the republic from 1918-1921) donated the clock that we see today on the façade.
