Calificación promedio de usuarios

On December 13, 2003, the San Juan Nepomuceno Cultural Center of the Universidad del Magdalena was inaugurated, with an immense cultural offer and the rescue of the architectural values of the building. The building has all the technical safety and technology standards, and above all it has respected the regulations on the intervention of assets of patrimonial interest, giving the city a treasure that today is the great pride of the University and one of the assets most important of the Historic Center of the City of Santa Marta.

The building began its construction with the purpose of being a seminary in the year 1671. The brick factory that was used for this construction was located in one of the Cathedral lots; Despite this proposal, Bishop Fernández de Piedrahita did not have the resources to continue with the title of College. From 1725 to 1744 it was occupied by the Bishops and at the same time it continued to function as a College; by 1789 the construction consisted of 3 rooms, a bedroom and a kitchen. In the 3 rooms, only Latin, Moral Theology and ecclesiastical chant classes were taught with very little attendance. The building was only completed on January 4, 1811, by the Capitular Vicar Placido Hernández. It was called San Juan Nepomuceno and a witness to this Name is the Oil Painting on wood with the Image of the Saint that has remained guarding the building to this day and that has become the main work exhibited due to its ancient value.
