On December 15, 2005, the Ethnographic Museum of the Universidad del Magdalena was inaugurated, since which date it has been operating on the second floor of the building of the old San Juan de Dios Hospital, declared a Site of Cultural Interest on April 16, 2005. 1999. The museum is the product of the materialization of the cultural policies of the Rector's Office and the Extension Vice-Rector's Office of the Universidad del Magdalena where, through its three permanent rooms and one temporary one, which are a contribution to the strengthening of roots and the cultural identity of Santa Marta, and the Colombian Caribbean Region. Today, the Ethnographic Museum offers its visitors the most important opportunity to appreciate the reflection of this ethnic, cultural and historical plurality of the city, the department and the region.

The Ethnographic Museum currently has three (3) permanent rooms:

o Room I. "To the swing of the waves of the Caribbean Sea and the Rio Grande de la Magdalena",

Visiting hours to the Exhibition Halls and the Royal Conciliar Seminary Building Monday to Saturday 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM Sundays CLOSED

NOTE: On Sundays and holidays the Museum is closed to the public, unless it is a special event.
