CASA MUSEO GABRIEL GARCIA MARQUEZ

Calificación promedio de usuarios

The Ministry of Culture and the University of Magdalena open the doors of the house of the grandparents of Gabriel García Márquez, in Aracataca (Magdalena), his homeland. The house, now converted into a museum, painstakingly recreates the spaces in which Gabriel García Márquez spent his childhood. That time, as the Colombian writer frequently recalls, is the genesis of much of his literary creation.

The museum house has fourteen rooms characteristic of Caribbean homes from the first half of the 20th century. The names of each space in the house were agreed with Gabo himself. In the house we find the office of Colonel Nicolás Márquez -place where the grandfather of the Nobel Prize winner took care of business-; the visiting room, the silver workshop, the hospital room, the dining room, the reception room, the corridor of the begonias, the room of the grandparents, that of the boy "Gabo", that of Sara Emilia -daughter of the uncle Juan-, the junk room, the kitchen and pantry and the room for the peasants and the patio.

The current address of the Gabriel García Márquez House Museum is Carrera 5 Nº 6 - 35, Aracataca - Magdalena 4256588.
